XVIII. Blame It On The Whiskey
The liverpool born and london based singer/songwriter is a welcome guest on carpe carmina: his poetic and dreamful lyrical musings, his expressively soothing and warmly raucous vocals resonate with many, first and foremost with those who feel at home with creative and scenic, mature and mellow music mindful of buoyant vibrancy and blissful harmonies.
Being awarded in 2012 as liverpool's 'Male Artist Of The Year', Ali Ingle continued proving his bright compositional prowess by showcasing pensive and poignant songs glowing with inspiration and soul, charming his listeners with both charisma and authenticity as an artist. It has been in 2014 then that the muso brought his rich music visions into being yet again by releasing a sweeping and emotionally stirring follow-up EP to 'The Man and The Monster' (2011), that Ali played his first gig in germany and carried on his christmas event tradition successfully. In between a mellifluous, hauntingly museful song saw its recording and release at last: 'Belly Of A Beast'.

For a little more than 2 minutes Ali Ingle draws his audience into the atmospheric and calmly floating soundscape of a smooth and appolonian composition: 'Belly Of A Beast' sounds all too fleeting, given its sonic brevity, yet echoes with sincere emotion and alluring warmth. Melodious, nimbly struck chords and breezy, gentle guitar shifts coalesce with cautious, firmly rhythmic percussions, whilst soulful and husky vocal layers of faint, euphoniously high-pitched timbric resonance shape imaginatively reflective and intelligent lyrics, which makes 'Belly Of A Beast' easily one of my favourite, if not my favourite song of this gifted and inspiring artist.

Powered by rampant energy and roaring passion, southern california rock quitet Robert Jon & the Wreck hit the road with blues-laden rhythms and gravely imbuing, insistently gritty instrumental reverb ever since february 2011. During 2013's OC Music Awards the resolute rock outfit came off victorious as 'Best Live Band' and made a confident and fiercely clangorous musical statement unleashing their boisterous debut EP 'Rhythm Of The Road' (2013) only a few months later. With a full-length record and an european tour for (early) 2015 announced, Robert Jon & the Wreck are ones to watch carefully - and the five alternative rockers did beat the big drum for what is yet to come in a forceful manner already: 'Blame It On The Whiskey', taken from the band's forthcoming album 'Glory Bound' (2015), has been released as a single about a week ago and sets the record's musical agenda - serving nothing less than hard-hitting, fervent and dashing rock grandeur - imposingly!
'Blame It On The Whiskey' kicks off with throathy and vehement vocal might, dynamically pushed by a solid, bold chord array. Melodic and lively key harmonies may balance the song's pacy and fierce tonal temper evoked by ponderous drum beats, jaunty cymbal vivacity and vigorous bass sonority, the edgy vocal uproar and strongly clangorous drum crescendo, accompanied by impulsive, tensely staggering riffage, reveal its furious and dashing nature though yet again and for good. Whether you blame it on Robert Jon & the Wreck's energetic and impetuous musical essence or on their feisty and keen instrumental vim, declaring 'Blame It On The Whiskey' an adamant and rousing stomper of a song, is eventullay the only right and reasonable thing to do.
