carmina charm #25

Do you know that our soul is composed of harmony?

- Leonardo DaVinci

It's harmony that your soul and mind embraces again when listening to music. As sound surrounds you, only some melodies firmly resonate with you, get an immediate emotional response - whilst their approach is a smooth and soft one, whilst they slowly, carefully but steadily cling to you, these melodies eventually grab you with an intensity and force that overwhelms, that fully absorbs and stirs. It's these very melodies that are in chime with your mind and soul, it's music that leaves an imprint on your being and mesmerizes ... music that charms

Most likely known among many of you as Nick Liam, the london songsmith has chosen a new guise to release his music under: introducing himself as Lorne - to an old and new audience alike - his melodic musings haven't lost any of their prior heartfelt and haunting quality. In fact, they are as invitingly emotional and euphonious as ever, to an extent even that the listener will be inevitably drawn to the mellow, melodiously mesmerizing soundscapes on show. 'Bread Alone' - due to be released in september - is of  significant alluring aura and reflects the singer/songwriter's sensitive, cinematic (as far as instrumental staging goes) approach to music perfectly; full of heart-ache and soaked in atmosphere, the single strikes on a sentimental level first, while sumptuously soaring piano melodies, gracefully yearning string section serenades and soulful vocals create something purely beautiful and stirring péu a péu

It's with a delicate sense that Lorne raises ethereal, dreamfully ambient and emotive sounds; a musical delicacy that enthralls at full-length.

LII. I Was An Astronaut

Charismatic lo-fi pop from castlerock - you get nothing less but that from indie four-piece brand new friend; and honestly, it doesn't take anything else for you to be under the sparkling sonic spell of this perky power-pop-quartet. Full of energy and brio, the band's debut EP 'American Wives' parades five songs so grippingly vivacious, so exquisitely rough, that lovers of infectious and youthful sing-along-choruses won't get enough of it, not even after listening to songs such as dulcet and shiny female-led 'I Love You, Goodbye' or catchy and cordial charmer 'A&E' for the hundredths time already. It's just as fresh and candid, time and again. Representing seemingly everything brand new friend want their music to be, edgy and charmingly raw, powerful and peppy, dynamic and delightful, the melancholic and yet brisk, most of all relatable romantic tonal tale told in 'I Was An Astronaut' is what could, actually should be your new (summer) anthem. So, start being a cool kid cat and let Lauren&Co. become your brand new besties!
