Back when carpe carmina turned 3 years old ...

.. Yarbo, who we got to know and love as museful songsmith and solo artist (what true muso could not fall for his ethereal fairytale-esque folk music, including gems such as quaint 'Sleep Forever' and melodiously buoyant 'Mechanical'?!), was taking steps towards forming anew as a full-band-project under the same alias: mid-june last year already, Daniel Pye invited AJ Rathbone on guitar and Andrew Finney for backing vocals to join him during an acoustic performance for Bay TV Liverpool and after recording some songs at Blueprint Studios at the end of the same month the then formed four-piece (fortified by Kieran Joyce on bass) set out on a mini-tour from late november to early december, to spread the word about their new single (released on nov. 25, 'Silverdust' had its first radio-spin during Iain Tinsley's show on Halton Community Radio). With a cute music video shot for 'Silverdust' in winter 2016, there was solid ground for further promotion and Yarbo didn't hesitate long to make the case for their first official musical outing as a band; the guys played live on Wirral Radio with Chris Currie, successfully applied for airplay on BBC Introducing Merseyside with Dave Monks twice, had 'Silverdust' included on XS Manchester's music program and listed as one of the Leftovers Zine's top tracks in 2016, put up a website for fans to be up-to-date with their musical doings. Complemented by a string of gigs the folk foursome performed at liverpool venues (Leaf on Bold Street in february and Studio 2 Parr Street in april) as well as in Manchester (at Gullivers NQ in may), additionally has two gigs scheduled for late june ('Dave Monks presents' at the Cavern Club) and september (Head for the Hills - Ramsbottom Festival) and news about an EP in the making (as polaroid impressions gave away on Yarbo's facebook page), the band's creative engine is steaming at the moment ... and all signs smoke signals indicate great success following.

Music well worth listening to ...

... as its celestial (courtesy of Johnny Roberts [keys/strings]) but poignangtly driven melodic ambience, furnished with Daniel Pye's emotive, grippingly raucous vocal yearning, evokes a dulcet and dramatic tonality hard to resist. carpe carmina definitely can't wait to hear the full-band recorded version of 'Citizens' in autumn!

Let's hear it from Yarbo ...

'Happy 4th birthday carpe carmina! We really can't thank you enough for your wonderful personal support! We recorded a special acoustic version of a new release coming out later in the year just for you! Thank you for all your kind words and hard work! Happy Birthday, much love from Yarbo.'
